The Food and Health Entrepreneurship Academy is a one-week intensive designed for science and engineering PhD students, postdocs, and research faculty in the fields of nutrition, viticulture and enology, plant science, biochemistry, nutritional genomics and fields relevant to foods for health.
The Academy
The five-day intensive academy provides participants with focused lectures, practical exercises, networking sessions, and hands-on experiences designed to give them the knowledge, skills, and networks to explore how their research can make broader impact in industry, the marketplace, and the world.
The academy is taught by university faculty, venture capitalists, angel investors, industry executives, attorneys and entrepreneurs.
Why you should participate:
learn to analyze, enhance and communicate the broader potential impact of your research
explore commercial opportunities surrounding your ideas
develop a network of professionals who can help mentor and connect you as you move forward with your career
The academy combines seminars and networking sessions in an innovative format to help you learn how to commercialize your research or prepare for a career in industry.
Move your research out of the laboratory and into the world!
When you’re in the lab, it can seem impossible to envision your isolated scientific research as part of a
complete product. I did not come here to with the intent of becoming an entrepreneur, but I have to say
that the academy has given me such a good overall view of each step in the commercializing process,
that I feel encouraged to start.—Vibeke Orlien, University of Copenhagen
The Food + Health Entrepreneurship Academy is a very good tool when it comes to bringing your ideas out to the market. With knowledge [from the academy], every participant will become a better entrepreneur, whether in your own business or as an employee.—Margareta Wallentén, Teknopol, Sweden
The mentors asked tough questions that we typically don’t address or think about at all. I was completely taken aback by all the golden nuggets of information and feedback we received on even our elevator pitch.—Maja Madsen, Technical University of Denmark
