Dimitri DeFigueiredo was born in Rio, although denies that vehemently. He spent most
of
his teen years in England, but did not really appreciate the wonderful
weather of the British Isles.
Upon returning to Brazil, he joined the
University of Brasilia by placing first out of 9000 candidates and;
therefore, you could say that he finally scored. He later graduated with
a
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
After working in the industry for a couple of years and making
plenty of money for other people he joined the State University of
Campinas, also in Brazil. There he completed a master's in the same
field.
Since then, Dimitri has been pursuing a
Ph.D.
in Computer Science at UC Davis. His research focuses on trust and
incentive compatibility in distributed computer systems.
